Tattoos: What’s your Story?
For over 15 years when I am with someone who has a tattoo I love to ask people the story behind their ink. It is fascinating to hear the answers.
I remember being in line at the grocery store and behind me was a tough looking guy. He was my height., very muscular and had a ton of tattoos and piercings. The one that stuck out to me was a tattoo of a hand coming out of his shirt and then the fingers were grasping around his throat. I turned to him and asked about his tattoo. He told me that he struggles with anxiety/depression and the tattoo represents the choke hold it has on his life. Wow!
Are you willing to share your tattoo story?
What does it mean to you?
I would LOVE for you to post a picture of your tattoo and then explain why you got it.
I got 3 tattoos to represent the trinity on me. A Cross intertwined with the Jesus Fish, a Dove, and Agape to represent God the Father as Love. My personal thought was that a tattoo was commonly used in the past to represent ownership over a person, and so I wanted to show who I belong to.
I have a butterfly on my wrist, it covers self harm scars, and reminds me that sometimes ugly things turn into something beautiful and free.
Also have the words “Grampy’s Girl” on my other wrist because my great grandfather and I were very close, and that’s what he always called me.
I have a dove carrying a heart on my hip, its in remembrance of my best friend who commited suicide when we were younger.
I have the rose from Beauty and the Beast on my upper arm, because it’s always been one of my favourite movies due to the messages it portrays.
I have the outline of Cape Breton Island on my collar bone with the phrase “home of my heart” under it to remind me of where I came from.
I have 17 in total. You can most definitely use any of mine. Feel free to contact me for photos.
